I am running an HP Pavillion Elite M9040n PC with Hauppage HVR-1850 and Hauppage Win-TV-HVR-1600 cards installed.  It works fine with mythtv but I've been trying to get the infrared remote control.  Running irw and pressing a key on the remote produces no output but the red led on the tower does flash.  The lircd daemon is started and running.

I think the kernel module is not loading because dmesg | grep lirc returns the following:

I am looking for ideas and suggestions.  I am not sure if this is a centos/rhel issue or an lirc issue?  who exactly owns the kernel modules?  Help is appreciated.
