Hello everyone, I have a HP Compaq nx8220 laptop with SMC IrCC chipset.

This is my serial driver config:

# cat /proc/tty/driver/serial
serinfo:1.0 driver revision:
0: uart:unknown port:000003F8 irq:4
1: uart:unknown port:000002F8 irq:3
2: uart:16550A port:000003E8 irq:4 tx:0 rx:0 CTS|DSR|CD|RI
3: uart:unknown port:000002E8 irq:3

I use Debian Lenny and that is my install steps:

1. apt-get install lirc lirc-modules-source
2. apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
3. apt-get install kernel-package
4. m-a update,prepare
5. dpkg-reconfigure lirc-modules-source
I select "sir" on "Drivers to build:"
I select "other" on "Type of supported SIR device:"
"0x3e8" on "SIR device I/O port:"
   "4" on "SIR device IRQ:"
6. m-a a-i -f lirc
7. dpkg -i /usr/src/lirc-modules-2.6.26-
2-686_0.8.3-3+2.6.26-19_i386.deb
8. modprobe lirc_sir
I get this output: "FATAL: Error inserting lirc_sir (/lib/modules/2.6.26-2-686/misc/lirc_sir.ko): Device or resource busy"

I try to restart the service but nothing. I try to free the serial with this command:

setserial /dev/ttyS2 uart none

But then there is nothing on /proc/tty/driver/serial.

I have a MCE remote, this one: http://www.mythtv.org/w/images/thumb/c/cc/MCE-Remote-2-alt2.jpg/100px-MCE-Remote-2-alt2.jpg

Can you help me please? Thank you for all your help, it will be great control my laptop from bed.

Thanks again and best regards.
