I have used lirc on a few different variations of debian distributions. Sometimes the device for the kernel module shows is /dev/lirc sometimes it is /dev/lirc0, so I edit the
/etc/init.d/lirc file to use /dev/lirc or /dev/lirc0 respectively.

hi list,

i've just installed lirc on my ubuntu 7.10 following this (german) howto:

Everything seems fine, i can load the modules:
[11936.752000] lirc_serial: auto-detected active low receiver
[11936.752000] lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 0

and i can start /etc/init.d/lirc

i can also use  irrecord -d /dev/lirc0 lircd.conf and mode2 is producing output with my technics remote.

but irw is not producing any output and also my configuration with irkick does not work.

is this the correct list to ask the question?
any idea what is wrong?
do i need to provide more information?
any hints where to search - googling the subject of this message is not producing any reasonable output.

thanks in advance!
