to whom it may concern:
I am currently "maintaining" a fixed version of the SiS framebuffer
driver on http://www.webit.com/tw/linuxsis630.shtml, based on the
version contained in stock 2.4.17.
I set "maintain" in quotes, because due to a lack of hardware specs I
can only make small steps and ... it takes time.
When I started back in December, the driver did not work on any machine
with a LCD display. Now it does on about 80% of the machines out there.
The only thing I am working on is the hardware handling; I don't do
changes on the console handling stuff.
The hardware handling works quite ok; although I am still working on
making it run on really _all_ machines. This is difficult, because I
only have one machine for testing (surprise: works 100% here..) and
developing for remote systems (where I can't test) isn't that easy. But
I will continue to work on it, I got enough contacts with testing
In case you're interested in including this driver in your development
pool, please feel free to do so. The only thing I would continue with is
the hardware handling anyway; so if you integrate the new API, this
wouldn't cause any dualities.
