The X version should still compile even if svga fails. You can force svga not to compile like this: ./configure --without-svga Assuming you do indeed want the svga version, you need to find out if and where the file libvgagl.so is installed. Make sure it isn't a dangling link. Then, check to make sure the library is in the load path (the path is stored somewhere like /etc/ld.so.conf).
