Thanks a lot, Mayank.

I think we should wait until Thibault is back to discuss details of the GUI. It contains all elements that are needed for the condition engine and looks nice but I think for the common, non techy user it is a little too complex. Maybe we can have something like "common settings" and "advanced settings", like at question editing in LS1 and also provide context sensitive help texts. It's just an idea but we should keep in mind that the simpler the interface is done the more users can use (KISS).

What do others think?

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi devs ,
I have updated the documentation of conditions engine with some screencasts on the UI skeleton. You can check them out here - http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=Conditions+Engine.

Hi Marcel,
Really sorry I didn't create documentation for the UI. Actually this UI is my interpretation of how the UI should look considering the backend tables we have. I have not really discussed it with anyone. I wanted to put my opinion and then get suggestions. I will create documentation for it asap and post the link here. Thanks for pointing out.

Mayank

Hi Mayank,

this looks great so far, it matches the current Limesurvey 2 design very well.

I think one of the hardest parts of your project, besides coding the core functionality, will be to create a nice GUI for this complex part of Limesurvey. As far as I can see (correct me if I'M wrong), there is no documentation of the GUI yet?! Can you add a few notes about each tab and element at http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=Expression+Engine+for+Conditions&structure=LimeSurvey+Development ?! It's very helpful to know how all these elements work together.

Are there any IRC logs I can read to see on which discussions your GUI is based on?

Thanks for all the work you put into this!

Marcel

Hi devs,
I have created a skeleton UI for the Conditions builder. I have committed the additions and modifications. So, you all can have a look and tell me what's missing or wrong. One thing I would like to point out that i have not yet added context sensitive form elements that are created on selection of certain items in the UI. So, you will find only variable types listbox in variable creator but no form element to input the attributes for the variable and no list of available variables is created when you select operand type as variables in create conditions tab.
Also, All the div elements for creation, edition and grouping that are currently not controlled by the menu above will be controlled later.
So, You can consider those as not errors. Thus, its just a basic idea of the future UI.

Mayank
