Hi Oscar... i was not refering to login exactly... i just forgot some details or ways to explain it... point is the members sharing between two platforms... the worst way is to copy members from one system to the other... i don'T think it's useful to think of it. i was thinking more on a compabitility between pLog and other systems to detect the users in the database... the login is a different thing to look at.. if pLog is based on sessions, some other boards are too, but usually, they have access to cookies too... it'S easy to set btw... a cookie detect can be handled if we "merge" with other systems that use cookie for authentication. example: invisionboard use cookie only to set the session in it.. BUT the session is db driven, not the usual php based... so we can't deal with it. the thing we can do then is to detect the cookie and set a new session with it so we keep the user online in the pLog also. phpBB use cookie based on php session, so it's the same as pLog, but the cookie. what i have in mind for users sharing is to "modify" pLog users database to suite the board it is merged with. so, example: invisionpower board have: table: ipb_members fields: id, name, password, email, interests no real difference with pLog... so we simply have to fix the table name... so in the install of the pLog, we can simply ask for the details of the users table we want to share...: shared_usertablename: ipb_members shared_usertablefields: id, name, password, email, interests the script will replace what is needed... so, usually, instead of placing a hardcoded users tablename, we make the variable... understood ?! ;) --- Oscar Renalias <os...@re...> wrote: > Hi! > > Looks like you fixed your page... yesterday when I > last checked (sorry, > read it before but couldn't answer any earlier) the > left column was > overlapping the main content area :) > > As far as I understand, you will copy the users you > have in the blog to > the board and the other way around too? > > And how about authentication? pLog relies 100% on > PHP session > management for authentication and sessions, no > custom cookies or > anything: > > $plogSession = $_SESSION["SessionInfo"]; > > And you're set :) It is a serialized object of type > SessionInfo > (class/net/sessioninfo.class.php) which usually > holds a BlogInfo object > and a UserInfo object, which contain information > about the current blog > and the current user. > > What kind of changes would you need to do to the > core? > > Oscar > > On 22 Mar 2004, at 00:22, nexia wrote: > > > something different that is not offered by many > blogs > > or other systems actually... > > > > be able to login to a forum and be logged in the > blog > > at the same time... > > > > i would be able to develop this module if all the > guys > > here are interested... or i will keep this for me! > > > > this is a simple script, but have to make a global > > change in the blog itself... change all the member > > table requests to a new variable that is set by > > default at the install. > > > > you can read my idea here: > > http://mini-services.com/wordpress/index.php?p=43 > > > > btw, i have a clearer way to do things than > > yesterday.. lol > > > > the script can be done in one day, changes to the > CVS > > will not be done by me because i will not commit > > anything to it, as i don't do CVS... so someone > can > > work with me on changes i can occur. > > > > ideas, suggestions... let me see! > > > > __________________________________ > > Do you Yahoo!? > > Yahoo!
