But the thing is that we're not using mod_rewrite :) If interested in knowing more about the method, this is it: http://www.sitepoint.com/article/485 We're using method 1 (improved with the idea in method 3) to have urls such as http://plog_host/post/1/40 (so that the "post" script, although being a php script does not need the ".php" extension) and method 2 to do things like http://plog_host/oscar, where pLog would take you straight away to oscar's blog (if any) > # httpd -v; php -v; > Server version: Apache/2.0.40 > Server built: Jul 31 2003 11:36:14 > PHP 4.2.2 > > both source installs. > > I am aware of some problems with other PHP programs and PHP < 4.3 with > Apache 2. So mod_rewrite could be just another problem. As I said, mod_rewrite can be ruled out because we're not even using it. However Apache 2.0.40+PHP 4.2.2 is the same deadly combination that everybody else who has reported problems with this, is using. I am stuck with Apache 1.3.27 in my machine because I also use it for my work and I have to have an environment as close as possible to our production environment, so I cannot reproduce the problem. I would appreciate if people who are experiencing problems with this could upgrade to the latest version of every component. I mean, Apache 2.0.40 was... 7 versions ago! If it still does not work, then the issue might be somewhere else. I am just trying to reduce the range of the area where the problem can be. Oscar. |
