Description of problem:

liferea hangs

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

liferea-1.2.7-2.fc7 on x86_64

How reproducible:

Very, for those who wait. Leaving it running overnight always brings about the
problem; it will happen a few times over the course of the day as well.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start liferea
2. Wait

Actual results:

The window becomes completely unresponsive to events (including expose). I ran
it by hand and saw a big pile of messages reading:

(Gecko:7394): GThread-CRITICAL **: g_cond_timed_wait_posix_impl: assertion
`end_time.tv_nsec < G_NSEC_PER_SEC' failed

Expected results:

No hang

This is a known and rare issue. While I do not think that Gecko is causing this I experience this with every second or third Gecko release. I think there is a race, but I don't know how to fix it.

A (bad) workaround is to use GtkHTML2.

Hmm, this workaround does not work for me - ./configure says:

checking for 64bit platform... yes -> disabling GtkHTML2

And I had problems with GtkHTML2 in the past (crashes), so I switched to the Mozilla backend instead, which for 1.0.x worked.

Also, the same problem is with the latest as of today (1.2.8).

I use Fedora 7 with liferea 1.2.10, and I have not seen this bug since then (before that, this bug has occured several times a day (in fact, I had to run liferea under "ulimit -t 300" to at least automatically kill it wheh it entered the endless loop described in this bug). So maybe it got somehow fixed in the meantime.

Closing this. Propably depending on the Gecko versions the effect appears for a while for some users and after upgrading seems to disappear again.

    Overall: won't fix.
