My messages tells me that there is a new USB device on
port 2 and gives it address 10. I dont think it knows
what it is though. Gnomad dosent see any player
connected. It throws up an error that says "Could not
open jukebox"

    Have you run "hotplug.sh"?

Obviously it looks like Gentoo has some problems with
hotplug. It would be great if someone could investigate if
the "hotplug.sh" script can handle adding stuff in
/etc/hotplug correctly on Gentoo. I suspect maintainers of
Gentoo might have done something creative here :-/

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem with my Zen 20GB. I've yet to
get libnjb to work using emerge, and use source file from
    here every time.

I can get it to work once, when there is a new version of
libnjb and gnomad out. I get one go at putting stuff on my
zen. It will work fine, and then when gnomad2 reads a
directory with lots of mp3s with id3 tags, gnomad2 crashes,
and libnjb returns either "libnjb_ping: device is busy" or
"libnjb_ping: short read on usb data pipe".

With the latest CVS version of libnjb (20050120) and the
2.6.2 version of gnomad2, I now get the error:

LIBNJB Panic: njb3_ping returned status code 0002!

I'm now going to try to install libusb from source and not
    through emerge

OK, just installed libusb from sourceforge, reinstalled
libnjb and gnomad2 from cvs and still get "LIBNJB Panic:
    njb3_ping returned status code 0002!"

no problem with gentoo and libjbnb at all. (frontends:
    gnomad2, kzenexplorer and neutrino)

I'd be damned if this does not work now.
