The most common answer is that you have to 'make install' the library
and execute 'ldconfig'. The path '/usr/local/lib' should be in the file
/etc/ld.so.conf before running ldconfig.
If you installed packages it is possible that two versions are in
conflict, e.g. one in /usr/lib and one in /usr/local/lib. In that case
you have to uninstall the package or remove any libdc1394 stuff in
/usr/lib before running ldconfig.
This is explained in coriander manual (IIRC).
