Units with a ground transport that has "wheeled movement" may take a wrong route in special cases.
In the attached saved game, select the unit on (6,2) and move it to (8,4). It is an infantry unit with a transporter with wheeled movement. The infantry has 3 move points while the truck has 8 move points. So, this unit should move via (7,2), (8,3) to (8,4) without mounting the transporter. However, what actually happens is: the trucks are not used, but the infantry moves four fields: (7,1), (8,2), (8,3), (8,4). This is bad in several ways:
- when moving four fields, the transporter should be used
- the short way without mounting the transporter should be preferred
This can lead to a surprise contact like in the situation of the unit on (6,8), moving to (9,7). Because it is using the long way, it is stopped by the enemy unit on (9,9). In this case this can be prevented by moving one of the tanks to (7,10), uncovering the enemy unit before moving the infantry from (6,8): the short route is forced by this.
However, it does not happen always. For example moving from (6,5) to (3,4) is done the short way. From (3,4) to (6,5), the long way is taken.
