In addition: AFAIK, ICC is now discussing a perceptual reference gamut, which would be printer-based. So, this would be not the maximum values but something like a "mean" gamut of printers. Obviously having that well defined would be a great improvement. Gamut remapping should never more got across the infinite gamut of actual PCS, with all the pain this implies.
