I've been looking at Kyra to use in one of our projects and I see that it's released under the LGPL licence for commercial use so long as the splash is shown.
I've no problem with displaying the splash screen but I was just wondering how this works, as far as I understand the LGPL licence, it's basically the same as GPL unless you dynamically link to the library but Kyra is a static library?
I apologise if this has been asked before
I've always wondered about static vs. dynamic libraries in regrards to the LGPL vs. GPL. In addition, its been pointed out that the splash screen could be removed as a legal change due to the wording of the license. C'est la vie.
I don't care how you link it in. If you use Kyra commercially, I request and appreciate it if you put up a splash screen.
Ok that's cool, thanks for the response.
I know LGPL puts some people off, especially once they see it's statically linked.
I would think a modifed version of the BSD licence would suit your needs better;
but that's your call ;-)
