Two requests in one day, what a whiner I am! No
seriously though this one should be pretty easy -
especially since you already insert other operational
buttons through the ipod:/ slave. How about one that
shows up on the root of ipod:/ that says "eject"?
AFAIK the only way to make the "Do not disconnect"
message go away is to run "eject /dev/sda" (or replace
/dev/sda with whatever device or mount point you'd like)

If we're using a GUI, let's go all the way - So what
about a button that when clicked runs "eject
(mountpoint)" and then maybe even pops up a friendly
"Your iPod is safe to disconnect" message. I'm using a
pretty standard suse 9.3 install, but from what I can
tell all users can run the command, no root required.
