I'm running kmyfirewall under KDE3.1.1a. When it
starts, the initial setup stage seems to work, but then
it brings up a "main menu" (with stuff like "start
wizard") and a main window.

The main menu is completely unresponsive. Nothing
works, not even the close button. At this point, I
stopped trying anything else.

(I also noticed that the statusbar on the main window
said "firewall not installed". This is not true, I have
some iptables rules already set.)

Maybe that iptables configuration you are running causes the
problem, this happened to me a few times with to strict
    iptables configurations(blocking Xwindow etc.).

If that is definately not the case please let me konw your
system enviroment (distribution, qt version, iptables
version) so that i can try to track down this problem.

The statusbar message about the "firewall not installed"
just checkst if a kmyfirewall created script is installed(to
be exact it checks if the directory /etc/kmyfirewall
exists). The app does not check for any running iptables.
The script created by KMF flushes all chains so please do
not try to use more then one configuration at the same time.

thanks for the report and greetings,
    chris

The solution for this Problem is to pass the right arguments
    to ./configure before running make.
You should have a look at kde source packages your
distribution provides for you to find out which argumentns
    are required for the dist.

    greeitngs,

I am getting the same issue with a RedHat 9.0 box. Tried to
compile it with every just about different combination. It
fails to create the /etc/kmyfirewall/kmyfirewall.sh from the
kminstall.sh script. Works beautifully on Gentoo but that
does not solve my issue with the RH box. Anyways looking
forward to finished release and some RPMs for those bin
distros, this is a very nice looking tool.

you mean different ./configure arguments - right?
I don't have any RH Box arround here so cant help you with
that - but you may ask the people from apps.kde.com how they
compile the package for RH as i think they are providing one.

    greetings,
    chris
