I just upgraded Ubuntu (with Gnome) from 7.10 to 8.04 and I have no problem in running Kile. I also noted that kile has been updated to the 2.0 version (from 1.9), and apparently no problem arose (still I haven't used kile a lot since the upgrade, but it starts and seems to work ok). Combining this info with the fact that in fresh installations kile works too, I suspect you are encountering some other problem, which is not caused by kile (kile not running is just a symptom). Now the new feature PolicyKit from Ubuntu 8.04 prevents u to run Kile under GNOME. As sudo you be able to run it. I've tried to set permissions and configure PolicyKit, but without any result. > I always get some error messages at the start. And by the way it is "only" Kile 1.8 on the packages. What problems do you have? Kile works fine on my fresh installed Kubuntu 8.04 version. I just installed it via the package manager, and it did it job. > > Bye, > > Jan > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference > Don't miss this year's exciting event.
