#1841 Sort order in AutoType window to be same as database entries (2.25 Portable)

Required: Entries in the AutoType selection window should be able to be pre-sorted by the user. Minimum or Default requirement is either

  • they should follow the same order as how the user has sorted the database entries; or
  • the Title of the entry.

Reason: The AutoType window shows entries in a (random?) order which cannot easily be changed. Users often have multiple entries for one web site (because of multiple stages for logging in) and all entries for that web site should be contiguous.

To modify the entry display order in the 'Auto-Type Entry Selection' window, modify the un-sorted entry order in the KeePass Main Window View.

    1. Change the Main Window View to 'No Sort' in View>Sort By
    2. Rearrange the order of the entries that will be in the 'Auto-Type Entry Selection' dialog so the order is the desired display order. (To Rearrange an entry: Right click on the entry and select Rearrange).
    3. Restore the view to the desired Sort order

Note: Rearrange is only active in the 'No Sort' sort order. The Sort order of the the KeePass View can be cycled by clicking on the column headings.

Thanks. I hadn't spotted that sublety when I searched before posting. Am I right in saying that

1 Use View > Sort by > None > Rearrange to set up the sort order you want in AutoType

2 Then use View > Sort by > xxx, where xxx is how you want the database to look. You can also change how the database looks by clicking on the column headings but neither of these affect what you did in 1 above as far as the AutoType window is concerned.

Correct. The un-sorted 'natural' entry order is used by the 'Auto-Type Entry Selection' dialog display. All other sort orders don't affect the 'Auto-Type Entry Selection' dialog display.
