KeePass auto-type sends keystrokes only, not mouse movements or clicks.
If you can move the cursor to the field using the keyboard only, then you can use auto-type to do that. For example, if it takes 5 tabs to move the focus to the text field, in KeePass 2.x add {TAB 5} to the auto-type sequence; in KeePass 1.x add {TAB}{TAB}{TAB}{TAB}{TAB}.
If a mouse movement and click is required to put the cursor in the text box, you will have to do that yourself before initiating auto-type.
Remarks: It is generally more reliable to manually position the cursor in the field where you want auto-type to begin, instead of creating a complex auto-type sequence.
