Maybe the association of the HTTP protocol is broken on your system? You could try opening the Windows Control Panel -> 'Default Programs' -> 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program' and choose your favorite browser for the HTTP protocol.
Best regards,
Dominik

Thanks, indeed I tried this on another computer and this worked fine.
Interestingly on my laptop I have Chrome installed and despite going though the Default Programs list and not finding anything related to Chrome the links in KeePass open in Chrome. I've changed the HTTP to Chrome then back to IE but it continues to open in Chrome with that malformed URL.
Interestingly the links in the About dialogue work fine.
I'll keep investigating...

A little Bug in KeePass 2.24 (German):
the Donate-Link (Help / Donate) opens the Browser an goes to these url: http://%7Burl%7D/
Just to bring this up. It's still happening in 2.26.
I cannot reproduce this. Clicking 'Help' -> 'Donate' correctly opens the page
