As in my last email the collections branch is looking quite good.
Along with Java Collections integration there is the conversion of list
and tuple to new-style classes and the addition of the sets module.
We are currently completing the work to make a new-style PyString and
The testing framework is being normalized to produce more reliable test
output. This is definitely an area that needs improvement as it's
confusing and so many tests fail that it's hard to know what should
work and what shouldn't. This is a rather high priority.
The installer works well and is being currently being completed. It
pulls from CVS for both Jython and Python to ensure a solid,
reproducible build. I'm pretty excited to get this done.
All this leaves us in a pretty good state to get some initial feedback.
As soon as all the parties working on some of the above commit their
final efforts we'll release an alpha. I'll keep you posted.
