Dear colleagues,

Solution found .. here the key to the problem are a number of module copies and the path setting in Windows to fix the javax.comm environment:

comm.jar should be placed in:

     %JAVA_HOME%/lib
   %JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/ext

win32com.dll should be placed in:

    %JAVA_HOME%/bin
   %JAVA_HOME%/jre/bin
   %windir%System32

javax.comm.properties should be placed in:

     %JAVA_HOME%/lib
   %JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib

After correcting the module copies and setting the Windows path, it worked nicely reading an Arduino board test via a serial interface.
