I'm running jython 2.5.2rc2 and java 1.6.0_22-b04-307 on a MacBook (Snow Leopard 10.6.4). This is a fresh install of Jython into ~/Library/Jython/Home, and I have home-brew python modules in ~/Library/Jython/Lib. One of those is which appends my Lib directory to sys.path .

~/Library/Jython/Extensions contains Java extensions, such as the JDBC driver for MS SQL Server.

Hmm, maybe I need to separate the Java extensions from the Jython path. I'll try that next.

The thing is, I never see $JYTHONPATH expanded for the Java command that runs Jython. (I did a `bash -x jython -V`)

Thanks for your help.

BTW, I'm also running it on Ubuntu Linux.

According to $(jython -h), $JYTHONPATH is supposed to add directories to sys.path. However, this doesn't seem to work for me. Instead, what I have to do is add $JYTHONPATH as the JAVA Extensions list (-Djava.ext.dirs=$JYTHONPATH) in $JAVA_STACK .

This allows me to maintain a Jython Library (Lib) outside of the Jython Installation directory. (I used to customize $JYTHON_HOME/registry.)

Is anyone else seeing this ?

I can't remember a problem with JYTHONPATH here for me.
Which jython version are you using ?
JYTHONPATH has been introduced with 2.5 i think.
