Sounds like a great project. Admin tools like this are a natural for Jython.

In a similar vein, I'm hoping to get tab completion support, ideally supporting ipython but also working with other completers like rlcompleter, working by the Jython 2.5.2 release. (Now that we bundle JLine for Jython, as of 2.5, it makes sense to finally have good support for this readline functionality.) Having a smart/specific completer for your proposed shell would seem to be a nice feature, so you might want to collaborate with the Jython dev team on testing this functionality.

Having support for this functionality could also convince other users of similar shells to upgrade to 2.5.
