Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2547269 By: e-flat Jens: Thanks for clarifying what you are trying to accomplish with JUNG. Responding to your specific points: (1) Perhaps you have realized something that we (the designers of JUNG) have not as regards graph visualization, and the extent to which it can be generalized. However, I think that at some point you will probably need to handle the visualization of hypergraphs and of graphs in different ways. If you do everything at the Archetype level, then (for example) you can't handle things like directed edges properly (because the concept of edge direction doesn't exist at the Archetype level). (2) There is a new design for graph visualization which we've been working out over the past month or so; the most recent version is in the samples.preview_new_graphdraw package, which you can get from the CVS repository. You may want to base your revisions on this version rather than on the original visualization package. Also, the old graph drawing mechanism has been undergoing some updates (in particular regarding the drawing of vertices and edges) so you may want to check those out also. (3) We would definitely like to see any extensions to JUNG that you may create.
