No

I would like to create a single polygon feature when clicking over multiple closed areas and holding the Ctrl key (or another keyboard key).

    Do you mean to add new members to multipolygon feature? We do not have any tool in OpenJUMP at the moment that creates directly collections like multilinestrings or multipolygons except a Jython tool for drawing multipoints. Even that does not add new parts to existing multipolygon. Generally the primitives must be selected first and combined with another tool - Combine selected features or Merge selected features.

    The best that can be done at the moment it to attach Right click - Combine selected feature into some EZ Button. Then you can create a new polygon, select that and the existing collection and combine with a single hit with function key.

    If you use the tool for selecting, copying and merging existing polygons then it is rather fast to select the features and run two right click commands in a row: Clone selected - Merge selected. As a result there will be the original small polygons left as clones and a big merged polygon or multipolygon.

      don't forget about shortcuts! Strg+G to group or Strg+Shift+G to ungroup. grouping in this case means combining features.
      a list of shortcut is avail under MainMenu->Help .

      also, you can convert geometries via
      MainMenu->Tools->Edit Geometry->Convert selected Geometries/Layer...
      or
      right click->Convert selected Geometries/Layer...

      that won't help much of course, as OJ does not seem to draw into a MultiGeometry currently.

      @All: i would expect to add a Polygon to a selected MultiPolygon when drawing it. how does standard gis handle that?
