Release 0.4: Template histories - ideas? needs? suggestions?

Hello JTimeTracker user,

release 0.4 will incorporate a more flexible template mechanism that allows for templates to "inherit" properties of "parent" templates.

What are your ideas, needs or suggestions with respect to the versioning of templates? Would you like to see log entries that are shaped according to an older version of a template treated as they are, i.e. unrelated to entries that were made using a newer version of the template? Or can you imagine an "upgrade" feature that rewrite "old-type" entries according to some rules into "new-type" entries?... read more

JTimeTracker 0.4 rewrite: metamodel supports inheritance

Some developer notes on the progress of the rewrite:

Release 0.4 will support "Classes" of logbook entries, including inheritance relationships between classes.

I've just committed the metamodel implementation to CVS that is capable of maintaining such relationships, including the prevention of inheritance cycles.

Multiple inheritance is possible, but duplicate base classes will be folded into one; this can be compared to virtual inheritance in C++.... read more

JTimeTracker: release 0.3.9 available

Release Notes And Change History

Release 0.3.9

Polishing release. This is the last release before the 0.4 rewrite.
I've decided not to include the pending features (see below), since
they'll be much easier to implement after a partial rewrite. Release
0.3.9 will be branched and I'll fix all reported bugs; however, new
features and a tutorial will only be added to the upcoming release
0.4.... read more

JTimeTracker: towards 0.3.9

I'm currently working on release 0.3.9. Major changes will be an extensive tutorial and several severe internal changes, like the switch from my home-grown internal event bus system to WerX. At the moment, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to add log file editing in this release.

In case you're interested in the current state, please check out the latest file revisions from CVS. Compiling and producing a jar file should be straightforward after you've copied build.properties.template to build.properties and adapted it. To create a complete build (including installer), have a look at build.properties and install the software that is mentioned there in the form of installation/home directories.... read more

Tracker time outs: my apologies

I've learned today that the SF trackers have a time out value for items. Items are set to "Closed" state automatically, after the time out has been reached. Two feature requests have been affected by this. My apologies!
The feature requests have been reset to state "Pending"

SF download statistics broken, JTT figures wrong

Unfortunately, the download statistics for lots of projects here on SF are broken. The SF team says they're working on it and that the statistics are being recalculated now.

JTimeTracker: sample template usages wanted

Dear users,

since a JTimeTracker tutorial is a much requested feature, I'd be thankful for some hints on your usage of JTimeTracker. What do you track and how? Please mail your hints to jtimetracker-general@lists.sourceforge.net.

JTimeTracker: release 0.3.5 available

Template renaming bug is fixed now. Added some localizations (hu, pt, sr, tr) and more Look & Feel options.

JTimeTracker: bugfixing release 0.3.1 available

You can now rename setting nodes; logbooks exported to Excel now contain a "template" column, too. Windows users can install 0.3.1 over an existing 0.3.0 installation; users of the tar.gz/.zip installers should save (and later restore) their configuration and logbook files as described in the 0.3.0 documentation.

JTimeTracker: Can't believe...

...that nobody ever found bugs, nobody has comments, feature requests...?

Since hundreds of people have downloaded it, there must be some opinions? I'd be thankful for any feature requests, positive or negative criticism?

For general comments (experiences, design criticism, etc.), please consider the mailing list (http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=57032). Bugs and feature requests can be added in the Tracker section, here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/jtimetracker.

JTimeTracker: Template editor being finished

During X-mas holidays, I'm currently finishing the template editor. I hope to release 0.3 in short time.

The newest compilable sources are available via CVS. Save build.properties.template to build.properties and adjust the settings inside, in case you wish to build the software.

JTimeTracker 0.2.5: How to disable debug logging

Unfortunately, release 0.2.5 was published with debug logging turned on. This does not harm functionality, but it can slow down performance.

To disable, please change line 64 of config/log4jconf.xml to

<priority value="WARN"/>

JTimeTracker: pre-alpha release 0.2.5 available

Contains bugfixes and is in general a cleanup. If you tried 0.2.3 already, you will like 0.2.5 better.

JTimeTracker: pre-alpha release 0.2.3 available

The pre-alpha release 0.2.3 of JTimeTracker is now available at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtimetracker. It requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4.0 or higher.

Improvements:

- added a logbook panel
- full MS Excel export for all log entries
- added more documentation

Still todos:

- template editor
- screenshots in documentation

JTimeTracker: Appetizer release available

An appetizer release of JTimeTracker is now available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtimetracker. It is functional, but pre-alpha and requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4.0 or higher.

JTimeTracker: Manual and Excel export added

Summarized data export to Microsoft Excel has been added, plus a manual.

Still, there is no release. But if you are daring and want to try:

- this is still just the start, *not even alpha*
- prerequisites: JDK 1.4+, Ant 1.5Beta3+
- get the CVS contents of module "JTimeTracker"
- rename build.properties.template to build.properties, adjust settings inside
- Ant compile target is "javac", application execution target is "java"
- you can modify configuration.xml to experiment; beware: this is UTF8 encoded (I use JEdit); read the sketchy manual to find out about how to use and configure the software

JTimeTracker: CVS module created

In case you want to play:

- this is just the start, *not even alpha*
- prerequisites: JDK 1.4+, Ant 1.5Beta2+
- get the CVS contents of module "JTimeTracker"
- rename build.properties.template to build.properties, adjust settings inside
- Ant compile target is "javac", application execution target is "java"
- modify configuration.xml to experiment; beware: this is UTF8 encoded (I use JEdit)

JTimeTracker: Project created
