The json reader doesn't support reading long values (eg. int64 user ids). These exceed the threshold in Reader::decodeNumber and are parsed as double.
I'd really like to see this happen, as I've had to patch it locally.
Note that moving to 64-bit ints doesn't really use any more space, since the value is stored in a union with a double anyway. Performance impact, even on 32-bit platforms, is negligible.
