More seriously, one hint for people in my case: for whatever reason, it's not visible in Mozilla but each "invitation" email from Exchange contains an iCal entry (you can see it in the source). Just save the email and call "icalendar-import something.eml" and the appointment is loaded into Jpilot. Great!
