    Hi all!
    I'm trying to complie JOE on a 3G iPhone, the toolchain is installed as well as the GNU C compiler. Downloaded the OS-independent directory, changed into it, chmod +x ./configure and ran ./configure as root. Output breaks off with:
    checking wether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.
    If you meant to cross compile, use '--host'. See config.log for more details.

    And here, gentlemen and -women, is the contens of config.log, sorry for it being so long:

    This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
    running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

    It was created by joe configure 3.6, which was
    generated by GNU Autoconf 2.59.  Invocation command line was

      $ ./configure

    This is a bit over the head for this old Linux junkie. What's to be done?

    Thanks in advance!

      It's trying to compile a really simple C program:

      main() { return 0; }

      But it failed here:

      configure:2289: ./a.out
      ./configure: line 2290: 2631 Killed ./$ac_file
      configure:2292: $? = 137

      I would try this.  Compile a simple hello world program and see what happens.  I'm guessing there is something wrong with the compiler or something:

      cat >test.c
      main()
      {
      printf("Hi there!\n");
      return 0;
      }
      ^D

      gcc test.c
      ./a.out

      Should say 'Hi there'.

      this is an `ldid -S` problem which i have only been able to solve by editing the configure script lol. see a newer topic i posted here about linking. help me figure that out and i'll help you figure this out ;)
