No

Joe can't open or save a file that ends with a comma
(such a a flagless maildir file).

The editor starts as if begining a new file.

$ echo "test" >foobar,
$ joe foobar,

Editor is empty with "New File".

$ joe "foobar,"

same thing.

$ joe

^ke foobar,

same thing.

$ joe

Enter "this is a test"

^ks foobar,

Joe says "file foobar, saved".

^c

$ ls

foobar

(the , was dropped form the samed filename)

    This is a long standing problem with JOE. The problem is
    that you can open a section of a file with syntax like this:
    joe fred,1024,100 to open a 100 byte section of file fred
    starting at offset 1024. I should probably at least keep
    the , if the two numbers are not given.

    This is fixed now in CVS. The ,start,size notation is
    extracted only if it's correct. So now you can say: joe fred,
