Including Swing stuff... e.g. JChemPaint *can* be run with these free tools! See: http://chem-bla-ics.blogspot.com/2005/11/open-source-swing-jchempaint-runs.html Good reading material on the current state of affairs is in Mark Wielaard blog: http://gnu.wildebeest.org/diary/index.php?p=136 > I have never heard of sablevm ... so I have no idea. > > I do not know if anyone has ever tried to run the Jmol applet using it. I've been running trying to run the Jmol application with open source JVM's too: http://chem-bla-ics.blogspot.com/2005/11/open-source-swing-jmol-renderer-runs.html The application currently does *not* run (see first link), but that's actually caused by the application wrapper around the renderer. The renderer itself *does* run with open source... see screenshots. > Q: Is there actually a browser plugin that uses this open source JVM? Yes. It's called: gcjwebplugin -> http://www.nongnu.org/gcjwebplugin/ There is a debian package for it. Have not tried it myself on Jmol yet. But since the renderer is working, I actually think it should run with this plugin too. > Note that technically speaking, there is not a problem with the > instruction set of the virtual machine. Yes, but the list is shriking rapidly now... > So, it is not clear to me what you are looking for. Egon 1.http://sab39.dev.netreach.com/Blog/Blog/12/?pm=18&vobId=282 |
