Dear all: I am trying to get the Jmol (11.0.3) source to compile on my machine (Mac OSX 10.4.9, Xcode 2.4+). I seem to have got the project set up correctly, but when I run the compile it exits early with the following error. error message: Jmol/src/org/jmol/adapter/smarter/Atom.java:58: exception java.lang.CloneNotSupportedException is never thrown in body of corresponding try statement This seems to refer to the try statement in cloneAtom() within Atom.java. Is this a Java 1.3 vs 1.4 issue? Thanks for any help you can offer. Jonathan Dr. Jonathan H. Gutow Chemistry Department gu...@uw... Hi, It's a vecmath issue. You probably have a recent version of the vecmath package somewhere in your path that hides the vecmath package provided with Jmol. The error is due to an incompatibility between different versions of the vecmath package. A fix was made on the trunk to deal with this (probably replacing CloneNotSupportedException by Exception), look at the trunk to check what it is. Nico, =09Thanks. That makes sense. =09The compile worked on my system using the prerelease 11.1.47 code = =20 and build.xml files, that I modified to avoid making signed applets. = =20 I'll start with that for testing my fixes to the GamessReader and for= =20 trying to turn Jmol_Web_Page_Maker into something more generally = =20 useful that can plug in to Jmol.
