I was looking at the api documenttation for javax.vecmath and realized that the present release is 1.5.2 while we have 1.2 in Jmol. Do we want to update this? Jonathan Dr. Jonathan H. I just tested quickly what the result would be with vecmath 1.5.2 instead of our current version 1.2-1.14. Basically, the size of JmolApplet0.jar and JmolApplet.jar increases by around 25k. That was necessary because javax.vecmath was not included in the standard java libraries at the time. When Sun was shutting down the Java3D project I exchanged emails with someone at Sun asking that javax.vecmath be included in the standard libraries. That was a long time ago, but I think it was post Java 1.4. javax.vecmath probably is included in the standard library these days. If so, then we would need to understand how long it has been part of the standard library. I don't think it was included in 1.4, which probably rules out any possbility of switching to it at this time ... but ... .IF. javax.vecmath has been part of the standard libary for a sufficient number of releases .THEN. you could consider switching Jmol to use the built-in javax.vecmath implementation in order to (slightly) reduce the size of the applet.
