I'm doing Mac/Maverick testing today.

It's likely that using  these JAR files from a hard drive will be different from using them from a network. I have noticed that even though we have the permissions right, even with the self-signed certificate, the yellow "you don't have a manifest permissions entry" box still shows when loaded locally. So I'm guessing  the manifest is ignored when loaded locally (as though that somehow made it more secure???) Surely a Java bug. This next few weeks should probably be considered "beta" for this whole signing process. Could be different tomorrow.

Forgot to mention  that  I did get this message when  I attempted to run the newly signed applet

Its the usual message about the  JAR file manifest does not contain the  Permissions attribute and will be blocked in the future.

Nico, is this a quite separate operation that has to be done?
(PS I clicked run but it still did not!).

Hi Henry,

Yes, this is a separate operation.
I didn't check if it was already done, so I probably have to do it...
Will check this evening and release a new test package.

Nico

Hi again,

It's strange, I quickly checked JmolAppletSigned.jar and JmolAppletSigned0.jar and they both have Permissions set to all-permissions in their manifest.
Manifest is in the jar (it's a zip file) in the META-INF directory.

Bob, any idea ?

Nico

it is better to take what answer we get.
