I'd like to make a 2.3.1 release early next week (perhaps as early as Monday with a code freeze this Friday and then hopefully clean sanity runs over the weekend). Make the release on Wednesday at the latest if we can't wrap things up this week. The nightly regression tests at watson ran ok with classpath 0.07 last night, so I will finish moving the system to classpath 0.07 later today. There are several todo items that I am aware of (there is a list in the Release Notes; please add items and remove when they are complete). (1) purge tabs from source code. This was discussed a couple months back. If we are going to do this, then it should happen in the next day or two. After the purge, people will need to ensure that their editors do not reinsert them. Steve Augart has provided an emacs mode that enforces this, please use it (or something similar) when editing Jikes RVM. (2) finish PPC register convention changes. I've mostly completed this work, but am hesitant to finish because I have not seen any PPC/Linux regression results in a week or so. I don't want to make more changes I can't directly test until there is some confirmation that PPC/Linux and OSX are still working on the cvs head. Could someone who has access to these platforms confirm that they are still healthy? (3) finish switch to classpath 0.07 (4) make a push to nail the few recurring failures we are currently seeing in the nightly tests (5) cleanup defect/feature lists. I suspect that there are a number of open defects/features that have actually been completed. Could people please look at defects/features they own/originated and confirm that they are still valid. --dave |
