Hello, I was wondering if your library is already available to be used in other applications. I am thinking about creating an application which takes as input a surround audio file, process the file and yields a surround audio file as output. Is it easy to use your library to read the input file taking every channel and converting it into samples? In the same way, is it easy to create the output file with all its channels from their samples? Is it documented? If your project is not running now, could you recommend me another open source library which allowed me to fulfil my needs? Thank you very much for your time. Best regards, Fran. |

Hello, I'm developing EmptyCanvas, an 3D renderer with a modeller. I need help to advance in my project. For now, the project is open-source, pure-java and downloadable with maven. http://emptycanvas.codeplex.com/ I'd like to add a wonderfull feature to my project, "movie-texture", which would be movies (like avi, mpg, etc) mapped to 3D objects. What I was wondering, is that i would need ideally some method in an multimedia movie reader like: File movieH = new File("path/to/movie.avi) ; m = new <ClassForMovieReader>(movieH); and m.readNextFrame(); m.seekTime(int frameNbr) Could I have some help or advices? -- *M Manuel Dahmen* Rue Fosse-aux-Raines, 30 B-4020 Liège Tél: +32466/185.783 belgium Email : man...@gm... |

There's a problem with the jffmpeg.dll and I am not sure how to fix it. = The jffmpeg.dll is calling the libavcodec.dll dependent library with the = incorrect name, 'libavcodec.o.dll' and bombs when trying to load. As a = quick fix, I renamed libavcodec.o to libavcodec.o.dll and now all the = dll's load up. I hacked the jffmpeg java code to print a message to the screen to let = me know if the native libraries got loaded. That got me started. = There's a cool util called 'dependancy walker' - go get it at = http://www.dependencywalker.com/ (btw, the program is called depends, = which reminds me of underwear :-). You point it at a dll, and it tells = you what dll's it requires to load. That's when I saw that wrong dll = name. =20 Yet, through all of this, and now that the codec loads in correctly, the = software is still not running the native libs - as near as I can tell. ________________________ Gene S. I don't know about the windows Vista problem, but it built in win2k. = Here's some things you need to know when building: Prerequisites: 1. Msys 2. MinGw 3. Ant First need to build ffmpeg binaries. The directions say to build = version 0.4.7, with a patch. The link to this source is broken. Go to = http://www.salyens.com/mingw/ for the source code, including the patch = they request. Basically, the instructions on the salyens web page = worked perfectly and it took just a few moments to build (1 ghz pentium = III). The instructions say to copy the libavcodec.dll to an 'appropriate' = directory. I assume system32 is correct - but I'm trying to sort that = out. Next, building jffmpeg.dll: =20 I ran into a couple of problems when following the jffmpeg build = directions. The file config.mak is supposed to be edited with = appropriate environment variables (JMF_HOME, JAVA_HOME, FFMPEG_DIR). = Note that the build instructions say JMFHOME, but it must be type since = the make files are all looking for JMF_HOME environment variable. = Regardless, when I set them in the config.mak file, things wouldn't = build - javac couldn't be found, for example. I commented the variables = out in the config.mak file, then set them up in msys, for example: export JMF_HOME=3D/c/progra~1/jmf2.1.1e export JAVA_HOME=3D/c/progra~1/java/jdk1.6.0_02 export FFMPEG_DIR=3D~/ffmpeg-0.4.7=20 Lastly, encoder.c threw a compiler error and it wouldn't build. Here's = the offending code, at line 42: #ifndef CODEC_FLAG_RFC2190 #define CODEC_FLAG_RFC2190 0 #define CODEC_FLAG_MODE_A_ONLY 0 #endif #define CODEC_FLAG_MODE_A_ONLY 0 =09 I added that last line to the file, and it built with a few warnings. = Since I don't know if it normally builds without warnings, I can't say = if this is normal or not. that's it. ________________________ Gene S. Anybody have a win32 dll build of this? I'm having a hell of a time = building it from source. There's something wrong when building under = windows Vista. I've tried MSYS/minW, and it bombs out when trying to = run cpp.exe (there seems to be some info on this problem in other places = on the web, yet I couldn't fix it). There's something odd about = building under cygwin, which I am currently trying on Vista. Then, I go = back to a win2K machine and msys/mingw and am having some more trouble = of a different sort. The build gets past compliling the java source and = building the header files. It now choked on: gcc -I. "-I/c/progra~1/java/jdk1.6.0_02/include" = "-I/c/progra~1/java/jdk1.6.0_0 64 = -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_GNU_SOURCE -c -o build/cpp/decoder.o = src/cpp/decoder. src/cpp/decoder.c:37:32: libavcodec/avcodec.h: No such file or directory In file included from src/cpp/decoder.c:39: Where is the header file libavcodec/avcodec.h come from? Hi, =20 I am using JMF with jffmpeg's decoder and encoder. I have been seeing this crash randomly when I start receiving video. I cannot exactly reproduce this problem but it has happened from time to time. If I just have audio, there is no crash, but once I add video it will crash. I believe it comes from the decoding part(might be from encoding also, not sure) as the crash happens once I start receiving video from a remote party. I looked at the native code in JMF and I did not see any problem there. I looked at decoder.c and encoder.c. It seems okay there too (not sure as I am not familiar at all with libavcodec) unless there is a problem with the free memory in the decoder.c or encoder.c is freeing some over lapping memory that is also being freed by the NBA deallocate. =20 Below is past of the crash log. Hi, I use the pure Java MPEG-4 codec is for previewing untrusted video files, but I haven't used it for direct streaming (not something I need to do). I suspect that most of the work will break down into to two parts: unwrapping the stream to extract raw MPEG4, and adding code to handle dropped packets. There are other people on the mailing list who have done work with streaming, who may have more insights. JH Hogeweg, Erwin wrote: All - I am looking into jffmpeg to decode an MPEG-4 stream. It seems to me though that jffmpeg only supports file based MPEG-4 data and that the http: protocol hasn't (yet) been implemented in the Decoder.cpp class. Could somebody please let me know if this is a correct observation, and if not, what parts I am missing. B.T.W. I am truly impressed. I was able to play my mpeg4 files right out of the box. Hi, In general, the slowest part of the process appears to be the last step: applying motion compensation, the FFT and converting YUV to RGB. I believe that this is mainly because of the array access speeds in Java - with C you can just take a pointer, Java has a lot of overhead. Other stupid mistakes I made (and that probably applies to the MP3 codec) is to use float rather than integer arithmetic. Floating point calculations are slow on x86 because the standard FPU instructions do not match the JVM specifications At the end of the day, I haven't been doing too much by way of optimisation and profiling. I simply bought a faster computer :). As with all Open Source software, everyone has different requirements. If you manage to get some good speed ups, then please post back some patches to this mailing list for other people to use. JH Pan steven wrote: Dear Sirs: Recently i wish to use jffmpeg's mp3 plugin to replace the Jlayer's mp3 player in my application. however, some mp3s broken while playing. i am not familiar with these codes, does anyone could give me some clue( e.g. known problems)? In my P4 machine, native player(VLC) plays a 320x256 divx video only use 2-5% CPU time. While the pure java decoder use around 12-18% CPU time. From my expericene , for simple algorithm programs, java's speed is just as fast as C++( e.g. no object, only array, data, common mathematica operation). Then what's the cause of the slowness in java divx decoder? is it caused by the native code's Intel MMX code? Or are there any other reason? If could be solved, i wish i can improve it a bit.
