There seems to be errors processing symlinks correctly.

If i add include directories which have symlink targets to already
included symlink directories openit hangs with loading file index.

Deleting / Readding helps for the moment but works slows down
greatly. After restart of jedit the problem occurs again.

I wanted to check this, but my Plugin Manager does not show OpenIt.

    Is OpenIt still available?

FWIW: I also do not see Mac OS Plugin. Just the Mac OS X Plugin.

      According to http://plugins.jedit.org/plugins/?OpenIt
OpenIt has a max jEdit version set to jEdit 4.4.2.

You can download old / unsupported versions of other plugins from there too.

Is jEdit 4.4.2 still supported? So is it required to fic OpenIt?

Or is OpenIt something worth updating to newest jEdit compatibility?

Older versions of jEdit are not 'supported'. Esp since the plugin download code has changed recently, so you need the latest jEdit release for the plugin manager to work.

I have been using FastOpen myself, and matthieu wrote SmartOpen which is meant to replace FastOpen. Each of them has its quirks. I can't remember what OpenIt even does differently now, iirc it has more java smarts to it than the other plugins.

As a general rule, if you think a plugin is worth rescuing, you just do it, either by asking if you can commit directly, or submitting a patch to plugin-patches if you want it to be reviewed by someone else first. this one hasn't been touched since 2009.

It might be more worthwhile to help maintain SmartOpen and add whatever is missing from OpenIt to that plugin.
