Hi Vampire, So the vital information is what you wrote here: " if you invoke "File -> Exit" aka C+q, then jEdit is closed completely. If you just click the X button in the upper right corner, only the current View is closed, even if it is the last one in case of server-mode then jEdit keeps running in the background to be immediately available if you want to reuse it". That probably accounts for what I saw - I always click the X button in the upper right corner.
