Sun had a special way of prioritizing bugs during the beta process of 1.6. The "regressive" bugs, are those which were introduced in the development version that did not exist in the previous stable (1.5) release. I think we should categorize bugs similarly. We can't offer free t-shirts to people who submit their bugs, but Sun didn't even give me mine when I reported one, so at least *we* won't make false promises... Any bug that was introduced in the 4.3preX branch that did not exist in 4.2final should be marked as a "regressive bug" (see the new group in the Jedit bugs tracker), so we can handle them with a different priority. Knowing how many of those bugs are in the product will help us decide how far we are from releasing 4.3final. |
