This is a suggestion for the plug-in ProjectViewer. When importing files = to a project, it would be much more flexible if one could specify, each = time one imports: 1) The physical root directory from which one imports. 2) The file mask(s) to use for the import. 3) The directories below the physical root to ignore. 3) The project, or "directory" of that project, under which the imported = files/directories are visually placed in the ProjectViewer. Instead we now have: 1) The physical root directory of the project as the fixed place from = which to import. 2) The files to import as defined by the single "Plugins:Project = Viewer:General Options:Importing Files:Files to import" mask from which = to import. 3) The directories to ignore as defined by the single "Plugins:Project = Viewer:General Options:Importing Files:Directories to ignore". 4) The project itself as the fixed place under which the imported = files/directories are placed. As can be seen from this comparsion, the whole business of importing = files to a project in ProjectViewer is completely inflexible, making it = almost a necessity to laboriously just add individual files rather than = using import to add files to a ProjectViewer project, except for the = most basic case.=20 My own use of projects in ProjectViewer has me creating "directories" in = a project, as placeholders for file groupings, and then having = particular files of a project put under each of those groupings; so that = files in a large project can be easily found in ProjectViewer. However I = must manually add files to such a grouping since import is so completely = inflexible. While I appreciate the work the programmers of ProjectViewer have put = into the plug-in, I would love to see a greater flexibility added to the = plug-in. |
