I just checked again, several hours later, and > with jEdit staying minimized and no other user activity occurring at all > on the computer, it's now up to 15 MB. I'll keep watching it. I've noticed it doing this a lot, but when I double-click on the memory usage spot in the status bar, the numbers drop (it must do some cleanup or something). BTW, it'd be nice if it did this cleanup before trying to open large files, too.. I've been working with some 25-30 meg files (inventory feeds from places like Ingram Micro), and have only allocated jEdit enough RAM to open one instance of these files, but it doesn't properly unallocate this memory when I close the file, so when I close the file, I have to first double-click the memory status area (or do it, wait, and do it again) before trying to re-open the file. -Chris |
