Bug #131838, was updated on 2001-Feb-10 06:01 Here is a current snapshot of the bug. Project: jEdit Category: editor core Status: Open Resolution: None Bug Group: normal bug Priority: 5 Submitted by: jgellene Assigned to : nobody Summary: 3.1pre1 too slow loading html and xml files Details: jEdit 3.1pre1, W2K, JDK 1.3; Loading files between 10K-15K in html or xml modes causes the screen to freeze for up to several minutes. This does not occur with text or C++ files of similar or substantially greater length, nor does it occur with very short html/xml files. I have not tested this behavior rigorously, but it looks like the folding routines are being applied to a file when it is loaded or first viewed. Perhaps this is creating a bottleneck for the GUI when the active file has a large number of brackets to be parsed. After the initial load of the offending file, activation occurs normally. I don't see a user option to toggle the folding mode. That would be useful for testing development versions as well as avoiding any performance tradeoffs that folding might entail in a release version.
