I find that if I attempt to create a new file, then jEdit freezes. The simplest way to reproduce it is: 1) choose "File .. New" 2) choose "File ... Save" and jEdit is now frozen. I suspect this may be due to jEdit failing to show the "Save File" dialog, or possibly showing it somewhere off screen where I cannot interact with it. It's 100% reproducable for me at the moment. Does anyone else see this? What would people reccomend as the best way to diagnose the problem? Is there a log file I should be looking at or should I start jEdit up in a debugger? jEdit version is 4.2 final thanks, mick |

You can confirm that hypothesis by typing the ESC / escape key. If the dialog is active but not visible, this will cancel it and return control to the jEdit main view. > It's 100% reproducable for me at the moment. Does anyone else see > this? There's the above suggestion. Also, the save dialog remembers its position, so presumably that's recorded in one of the files in "~/.jedit/" (or whatever exactly is the Windows counterpart -- the ".jedit" subdirectory of your profile directory, I guess). Slava or someone else familiar with the pertinent internals can tell you where this information is recorded. > jEdit version is 4.2 final > > thanks, > mick Randall Schulz |

Do you have a multiple monitor setup by any chance? Mick Hollins wrote: > I find that if I attempt to create a new file, then jEdit freezes. Yes I do. Is this a known issue? If so, is there a workaround? My apologies as I responded to Randall's mail yesterday, but mistakenly didn't reply to the group. I've included the mail below. <quote> Thanks Randall. Esc did indeed bring jEdit back to life, and I have now found the missing dialog (which was sized strangely) and have resized it and everthing is happy again. I suspect the cause of the problem may be related to my use of dual monitors. cheers, mick </quote> Slava Pestov wrote: >Do you have a multiple monitor setup by any chance? > >Mick Hollins wrote: > > >>I find that if I attempt to create a new file, then jEdit freezes. I've been using jEdit with dual monitors on Mac OS X for almost a year with no problems... Pete |
