I had similar problems (With a spanish keyboard) a while a go but I resolved it with jdk 1.4.2.x. In any case you could do yourself a favour and checkout the sun bug database for 1.4.x and 1.5.x as this is most likely a jvm problem. Sorry I couldn't help you out more there. I did download today the newest version of jdk that I could find; now my java is <<java version "1.5.0_01" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_01-b08) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_01-b08, mixed mode, sharing)>> so this should be up-to-date. Unfortunately the original problem with ^ and ~ stays as it was. I looked a bit to the sun bug database, and it seems that there are several problems with character encodings and so on. So, my original question is still alive: Suse 9.1, jdk 1.5.0_01, finnish keyboard layout, jedit 4.2: ^+^ produces nothing, ~+~ produces nothing --> what can be done? best wishes to all, Tapio |
