Not sure if this will help, but this happens to me when I have the "Configurable Fold Handler" plugin enabled for some of the files. I'm then getting an exception (something about off-screen buffering). If I disable it, everything loads fine, after a restart.

Haven't logged a bug yet, as haven't got around to figuring out how to do it...

I have just installed JEdit 4.2 (final) and on some files open without any issue. However about 1/3 of the files are opening to blank pages. If I use something like Word or notepad the file opens correctly. But each time I attempt to open them with JEdit I get a blank page. Then once I attempt to close the file I get a BeanShell error It starts java.lang.NullPointerException:Mode must be non-null). This tells me that JEdit thinks the file is empty. However it prevents me from even writing into the file.

Is this a know bug? Is there a workaround for this issue?

Thank you in advance,
