I checked in the initial release of JavaStyle and worked a lot of time with it -- without errors. Seems that the "PreservePermissions=false" have fixed the errors.
However there's still the problem with the locks. We don't know where they come from, and they are not yet gone. Therefore, I am not closing this bug.

The locks are left over from failed CVS commits. I have added a comment to support request 104821 asking them to be removed.
Support request 104821 is closed.
jEdit CVS works fine now.
