I have a feature request. Often, we make typos while
entering journal names or author names. If Jabref
groups author names from a file or journal names from a
file together, we could see the misspellings and
correct them. If you think this is worth implementing,
please mail me karthik@rishi.serc.iisc.ernet.in and I
will give more details.

It is now possible to add "Automatic groups" that generate subgroups according to a predefined criteria (e.g. a list of all authors). This should implement your suggestion.
