Hi!
When using the JabRef tool with multiple users it
happens that two or more users are editing the
database at once. The user that hits the save button
the latest will have stored his data, but the other
users will loose all the changes. This happens when
all literatures are stored on a network drive, and one
big literature database is used for all. Each user is
given a filter by using the groups feature. A solution
could be the creation of a lock file, or communication
of JabRef's over the network.
Hand in hand with this problem, there should also be
some kind of privileges, allowing a user to view, add,
modify or delete entries, depending on who he is. Of
course one could just open the *.bib file and modify
it overthere, but the idea behind this is more like a
protection against not-so-computer-fit-users or not
loosing valuable information. Possible sollution: a
users-file (or section in the bib-file) defining the
privileges.
Of course when the literature database gets large, one
does not like to loose his work, and hence a backup
feature would also be nice.
Regards.

Hi!
We have our BibTeX database (.bib file) on a subversion
server. This allows many users to work on the database (even
automatic merging of changes works well) and a backup is
also included (you can turn back to any older version or you
undo a revision).
Best wishes,
Arne
https://sourceforge.net/p/jabref/feature-requests/806/ proposes a concrete solution. Therefore, I close this issue.
