iTALC 1.0.9 released

iTALC is a use- and powerful didactical tool which lets you view and control computers in your labs and interact with students in a modern way. It supports Linux and Windows NT/2000/XP and it even can be used transparently in mixed environments!

iTALC 1.0.9 fixes bugs found in 1.0.8. There're also minor improvements regarding the master user-interface.

Detailed Changes:

Core:
- fixed endless loop when initializing keys
- add date and time to logfiles
- updated miniLZO-library to version 2.03
- fixed problems at exit of master application on win32-platform
(huge logfiles)
- increased timeouts in socket-read-function in order to minimize lost
connections
- various fixes for Qt 4.4-compatibility - fixes demo-mode crashs in RC3/RC4
- fixed possibility to escape locked mode
- in case of failed connections, sleep longer for not immediately hitting
WinXP SP2 connection limit
- made Linux-version compile with libc 2.8 (part of Ubuntu 8.10)
- win32: when using "run commands"-feature, run processes with permissions of

iTALC 1.0.7 dramatically improves CPU-usage by using a new heavily optimized image-scaling-algorithm for several tasks. With version 1.0.7 the master-computer should keep responsive even when monitoring a lot of clients (especially applies to Linux). In cooperation with the Edubuntu-team several serious bugs were discovered and fixed. Especially crashes that existed for ages are now gone, 64-bit-platform compatibility has been significantly improved and iTALC now works properly in Linux-based Thin Client environments. Altogether version 1.0.6 for sure is the most stable iTALC we ever had.... read more

iTALC 1.0.3 released

iTALC 1.0.3 has been released and is available for download now. It brings some new features as well as lot of improvements and bugfixes:

- internal changes: moved core-functionalities into separate core-library (Lib)
- ICA: destroy QSystemTrayIcon-object at exit - tray-icon now immediately disappears at exit (win32)
- ICA: made parameters -ivsport and -isdport configurable via registry/config-files
- ICA: execute commands in background (detached) for not blocking while commands are running
- ICA/Linux: use "halt" rather than "poweroff"
- ICA/win32: send cursor shape (much more convenient remote-control!)
- ICA/win32: merged changes from TightVNC-SVN
- ICA/win32: trap Alt+Space in locked mode
- IMA: heavily improved UI of toolbar and tool-buttons in application itself as well as in remote-control
- IMA: stop demo on all clients after a student-demo

iTALC 1.0.2 released

iTALC 1.0.2 just has been released. It closes some more or less critical bugs:

- win32: setup - fixed typo which made key-import not working - closes #1686845
- win32: do not quit on logoff - closes #1686921
- made "-ivsport"-parameter functional under win32, closes #1688198
- win32: added system-tray-icon (as used under Linux for several months)
- several new messages from system-tray-icon
- improved auto-installation
- win32: binaries built with MMX-support per default

iTALC 1.0.1 released

iTALC 1.0.1 just has been released. It closes some critical bugs:

- IMA: reload username-tooltip regularly - fixes bug where username was not updated if users changed on a client
- win32: only log warnings and errors - fixes security issue where faked keypresses were logged into log-file
- win32: create C:\WINDOWS if it does not exist as otherwise there are strange errors with iTALC Master (full CPU usage, no host reachable etc.)
- win32: fixed several stuff concerning logon-functionality

iTALC 1.0.0 released

iTALC 1.0.0 just has been released. Several bugs were fixed and as well as lot of small improvements, see below.

What has changed?

- Italian localization
- French localization
- improved master-GUI
- lock screen and fullscreen-demo should work better under Linux
- bugfixes in setup
- start service after registering it (win32)
- change service configuration to make ICA being restarted on failure (win32)
- disable caps-lock when logging on user (win32)
- improved shutdown-/reboot-functionalities (win32)
- removed non-fullscreen view of remote-control

Release Candidate 4 of iTALC 1.0.0.0 is out now!

iTALC 1.0.0.0 RC4 is
out now. A lot of bugs were fixed, especially some important ones which made iTALC-installation not work at all under several circumstances. If no
serious bugs are found the final 1.0.0.0 will be
released on 3th of March 2007.

What has changed?

- fixed several problems in build-system
- master: close connection to invisible clients
- master: do not show all clients if no personal-config exists
- restart service on failure
- handle additional state of logon-dialog under win32
- rewrote code for invoking userinfo.exe under win32 - should solve problems with high CPU-load
- correctly register service and create keys if installation-path contains spaces
- properly export public keys in setup
- remember state of main-window
- fixes in auto-setup
- French translation

Release Candidate 3 of iTALC 1.0.0.0 is out now!

After several weeks of development, especially debugging, iTALC 1.0.0.0 RC3 is
out now. All known bugs and issues are fixed in this release. If no further
serious bugs are found, this will be the last RC and final 1.0.0.0 will be
released on 3th of March 2007.

What has changed?

- if exported key already exists, ask whether to overwrite and if so, do so
instead of failure silently
- lot of bugfixes and improvements in UI of master-application
- do not show sticky-keys-dialog while screen is locked and user presses
<Shift> 5 times
- fixed critical bug which made several windows-processes hang while ICA was
running (e.g. Explorer and Word)
- when closing master-application do a proper shutdown of application and
reset of clients (stop demo, unlock screens) and do not crash ICA on
master-computer
- Support for auto-setup on clients via installsettings.xml... read more

Release Candidate 2 of iTALC 1.0.0.0 is out now!

A lot of bugs were fixed since the last Release Candidate. I also found out, that iTALC still has problems when using DFMirage-driver so for the time being please do not install DFMirage! Furthermore debug-logging has been added so when reporting bugs please always attach /var/log/italc_client.log or C:\WINDOWS\italc_client.log.

Try it out and report further bugs to make iTALC 1.0.0.0 the best software in the world! ;-)

Release Candidate 1 of iTALC 1.0.0.0 is out now!

From now on you can download and test Release Candidate 1 of iTALC 1.0.0.0. This release candidate is a big step towards final 1.0.0.0 which will be available in 1 to 2 weeks.

Please test and report any bugs that you encounter!
